Why you should avoid 'Sales' and 'Personal' Posts on Linkedin
The 6th and 7th best types of LinkedIn Content. I'm Richard, Richard Dawson I’m a Digital Marketing Coach.
This is my weekly digital marketing update. So in the previous three posts, I've covered the top five, five core types of content in your LinkedIn Content Marketing Plan.
I promised I would tell you, the ones that didn’t make it into the top five. So today I'm going to talk about those other two, that didn’t make it into the top five. They are still worth using in your content occasionally to create some variety and to mix things up a bit. So number six or seven if you like. Add them to your content occasionally.
No 6. Personal Posts, because LinkedIn is a business platform, and it’s not B2C it’s more,B2B I would avoid too many personal posts. You see a lot of them on LinkedIn they are often clickbait.
So I would avoid them. HOWEVER, in the ‘behind, the scene’s’ posts, we talked about in a previous post you might add a little bit of personal detail. So if you've got a dog, get the dog in there!!. If somebody's having a birthday in the office, why don't you put that on as well? So there is some value in them, but it's very limited and needs to be controlled.
No 7 the final type and number seven for a reason, are ‘Sales Posts’.You see a lot of people putting sales posts out there.A direct sales post is a link to your site , to your, e-commerce page , to your signup page or something else like that.
As a general rule, people don't like to be sold to. If you put too many sales posts in your content,it makes you look a bit ‘spammy’ and can make you look a bit desperate as well. So my advice is to keep them to a very, very low minimum occasionally put one in. Maybe for a special event or something like that. But keep them pretty, pretty infrequent, would be my advice.People should already know what you do. They should know the products and services that you offer so you don't really need to do them and they can actually damage your brand.
Do you agree with me on that? If you don't agree, please do put something in the comments !!
Next time it's nearly Spring. So it’s just around the corner and we're going to talk about having a ‘spring clean of your social media.
